Designer Ever Salcedo of ES Interior Design partnered with Urban Bonfire’s design specialists to create this modern monochromatic outdoor cooking and entertaining space in Long Beach, California.

“The concept was to keep everything clean, fresh and all white, indoors and out. The Pacific Ocean gives us incredible hues of blue and I wanted blue to be an accent colour of the space without being overpowering,” explains Ever.

The space is long and narrow, so every inch of space had to be thoughtfully planned-out. The main request from the homeowners, a couple without kids who love to entertain friends and family at home, was to have plenty of seating for all guests. This was accomplished by adding a large built-in floating bench with plush pillows across a modern fire pit. Large floor-to-ceiling accordion doors open onto the seating area for a quintessential California indoor-outdoor feeling.

The kitchen includes an imposing 54” Lynx grill, double side burner, sink and faucet. The L-shaped layout makes the most out of the narrow space, with plenty of flush mount drawers for easy storage of cooking and entertaining accessories. Urban Bonfire’s elegant Chantilly finish is paired with matching stainless steel powder coated handles and a waterfall countertop for a modern and clean look.

The property is located on the oceanfront in an area of Long Beach called The Peninsula. Tall green hedges and glass walls around the kitchen and seating area make the space feel intimate despite being in a populated area. The home is surrounded by water on all sides, allowing for incredible views and sunsets from the rooftop patio. This also meant that “outdoor custom cabinetry that could not be damaged by the sea salt” was important, explains Ever.
