At Home with Katee Sackhoff

As part of a whole house remodel, Katee and her husband wanted a beautiful and functional outdoor entertainment space. They “had the challenge of turning the backdrop of an old, beaten up fence on our property line into a classy, high end kitchen area.”

When designing Katee’s project, our design specialists took into consideration Katee’s needs and aesthetic, from the preliminary design proposal all the way to the final product.

“Urban Bonfire's design team was so wonderful, sending us detailed preliminary design images and measurements so that we could get everything just right. And when it showed up, it fit PERFECTLY in the space. My husband was able to assemble the whole kitchen himself in one day and he said he was blown away by how lightweight but solid the aluminum cabinetry was.”

Katee explains they looked long and hard for the right materials for their outdoor space. “We live by the beach so we needed durable materials that could handle the elements.”

Our powder coated marine grade aluminum cabinetry, planters, slatwall backsplash and Dekton by Cosentino’s high-performance countertops were the perfect weather-resistant solution for this project. Engineered for life outdoors, our Nacraē™ antimicrobial formula resists scratches, fading and stains, making it ideal for sun, wind and salt water found in coastal environments.

The kitchen is framed by two matching cube planters and a slatwall backsplash with clip-in Planters housing succulents. It includes generous functional storage space with a pull-out storage peg system on the far left, a pull-out garbage and recycling module between the Big Green Egg and fridge, and an open shelving cabinet with Ipe wood slats on the far right, ideal for glasses and plates when entertaining.

Our crisp Chantilly finish paired with matte gray Dekton Laos countertops, the natural wood flooring, woven rattan furniture, lanterns and bohemian-style cushions create a serene atmosphere. The fence that encloses the property gives it privacy from neighbors while giving the impression of being in an oasis. The intimate seating area adjacent to the kitchen allows guests to comfortably relax while the host cooks.
