Nestled in Southern Ontario, this stunning project transformed a simple outdoor area into a sophisticated and peaceful retreat. Earth Inc. applied their horticultural and architectural expertise to create a harmonious environment that brings family and friends together in beautifully designed spaces.

We connected with Kennedy McRae, partner and designer at Earth Inc., who shared insights about this project. "The garden was a blank slate with mature trees and hedges that needed to be maintained," reveals Kennedy. The newly constructed stone home provided an ideal backdrop for Earth Inc.'s creative vision to unfold.

Crafted for a family with two children, the design establishes distinct functional zones while maintaining an effortless flow throughout the property. Earth Inc. strategically arranged each area to invite interaction and exploration, creating spaces that serve as natural retreats from the demands of daily life. The centerpiece lounge and fire pit are nestled within the landscape, providing an inviting gathering hub beside the pool and offering seamless access to both the sauna and the outdoor cooking and dining space.

An open lawn offers flexibility for playful activities like trampoline jumping or a casual game of catch, while two patios extend the home’s living space outdoors – one for dining and the other for intimate tea service and quiet conversations.

"The open lawn, bar, lounge, dining area, and tea garden are perfect for large gatherings, allowing guests to spread out and enjoy the garden from different vantage points," Kennedy notes.

A significant challenge in this project was integrating pre-existing patios into the new design cohesively. Through meticulous material selection and layout refinements, Earth Inc. created a space where every element appears purposefully designed as part of a unified vision, enhancing the garden's seamless character.

At the heart of the dining space stands an Urban Bonfire outdoor kitchen, extending the home's aesthetic while serving as a focal point. Urban Bonfire’s sophisticated Chantilly powder coating finish harmonizes with the Dekton Keon countertop, creating a visual connection to the home's grey stone exterior. This kitchen offers a complete outdoor cooking experience with its 42" grill, refrigerator, sink and faucet, storage solutions, and ample countertop space for both preparation and entertaining. This addition seamlessly integrates into the design, offering both style and functionality for outdoor cooking and entertaining.

By combining carefully selected elements with intentional design principles, this entertainment space truly extends the home's living space—creating a perfect balance between relaxation, recreation, and connection with nature.
